Treatment for Adults

You’re never too old for a great, healthy smile! Adult teeth can be moved, and orthodontic problems corrected, quite effectively – and with discreet, efficient  methods that didn’t exist when you were young. Of course, each patient’s diagnosis and treatment plan will differ. In some cases, tooth loss and lack of jaw growth may require plans that are somewhat less straightforward than those of a child or teen. At Uptown Orthodontics, we have the experience and the technology to address your unique situation with state-of-the-art solutions.

At your free assessment, we’ll diagnose your situation and develop a treatment plan based on your diagnosis and your needs. Many adults want their braces to be as invisible as possible, while still doing the necessary work of moving teeth, correcting abnormalities, and relieving any related physical discomfort. Fortunately, two of the newest, highly effective options for braces these days are also the most discreet.

Invisalign repositions teeth through virtually invisible, custom-made composite aligners. No metal wires or brackets are involved. Invisalign aligners are removable and can easily go unnoticed.

Another revolutionary advancement in orthodontics is the Damon System, which is slightly more noticeable than Invisalign. Its low-profile metal or non-staining clear brackets use gentle biological forces to shift teeth to the required positions with less discomfort. Rarely are extractions needed – unlike old-style braces. Damon braces have been shown to achieve results quicker than traditional braces.

Adults with very narrow arches and smiles can benefit greatly from the Damon System. The repositioning of your teeth and widening of your arch – which we call a “bracelift” –can minimize the appearance of lines on your face and leave you looking younger. A bracelift can also modify and enhance your lip competence – the degree to which your teeth show when you smile.
